Bonne Maman After Lilly Martin Spencer 2020
Linoprint on A5 cartridge paper, edition of 50

This print is named after Spencer’s ‘Kiss Me and You’ll Kiss the Lasses’ (1856), a painting of woman flirtatiously offering a spoon to the viewer whilst making jam. ‘Bonne Maman’ continues this narrative of production and consumption. It also calls on ideas about youth and desire, what is considered valuable or to be preserved.
